New Tretyakov Gallery
Новая Третьяковка

The largest art museum in Russia, the New Tretyakov Gallery is a modern art branch of the Tretyakov Gallery which occupies a gigantic Modernist building in the Fallen Monument Park in Central Moscow. It was the first art museum built during the Soviet era which was intended to house the Soviet socialist art of the 1920s-1950s. Until recently, the museum failed to attract many visitors, but with the arrival of the new director Zelfira Tregulova, it has become one of the up-and-coming museums in Moscow with block-long queues to some of its big-name temporary exhibitions. Today, it is the place to go to see Russian avant-garde, Socialist Realism, the Austere and the Russian Underground art, and visit one of their superb exhibitions dedicated to the 20th-century Russian art.
